The Expert Committee on the Development of Artificial Intelligence (under the Ministry of Digital Transformation) of Ukraine welcomes you to our new digest which will cover the Committee’s activities as well as news from the world of AI.

1. Ministry of Digital Transformation and Expert Committee on the Development of AI to cooperate with the global philanthropic organization Luminate. “Artificial intelligence is becoming one of the key transformational technologies for the economy, defense, and public administration. Ukraine has no right to stay away from these global processes. That is why the Ministry of Digital Transformation seeks not only to support the current trend but also to create favorable conditions for the active development of this area. […] Activities within the Concept of Artificial Intelligence Development and the achievements of the Committee on AI Development will help take this leap,” said Oleksandr Bornyakov, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for IT Development.

2. Government approves the action plan for the implementation of the Concept of AI Development in Ukraine for 2021-2024The action plan was approved in order to introduce artificial intelligence technologies in the areas of education, economics, public administration, cybersecurity, defense, and other areas, to ensure the long-term competitiveness of Ukraine in the international market.

3. Event: Revolutionizing AI regulation in the EU The Committee will co-host together with the International Advisers Association the discussion on the new regulations in AI put forward by the European Union. The event will take place on 16 June at 5 p.m. (Kyiv).

  • The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the Concept of Artificial Intelligence Development in Ukraine until 2030. The concept is aimed at increasing the competitiveness of Ukraine through the use of artificial intelligence technologies in the socio-economic, scientific and technical, defense, environmental, and national-cultural spheres of national importance. Read the concept
  • We have developed a catalog of educational programs with information on the training of specialists in the field of artificial intelligence. See the Catalog
  • Research laboratories on artificial intelligence will be established in Ukrainian universities – the first stage has begun. About the AI labs. Artificial Intelligence Lab was opened at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. The project was created by the Committee on the Development of Artificial Intelligence in Ukraine under the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. Read more
  • The Office of the Ombudsman has joined the consultations initiated by the AI Committee to establish an appropriate legal framework for the use of artificial intelligence at the international level. Read more
  • UkrOboronProm invited the NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine to hold a hackathon among developers of armaments and military equipment in order to integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning in the production of new models. Read more
